What Oklahoma “Progressives” Are Up To
Tip of the hat to Jenni White of Restoring Oklahoma Public Education (ROPE) for alerting us to an insightful piece by by Capitol Beat OK. It’s about and contains a memo that appears to have been only for limited distribution among insiders/members of the Oklahoma Progressive Caucus. It’s very long, but the memo is “inside baseball” and chock full of the Progressive caucus’ views, intent and strategy.

An excerpt of how they view certain and recent Education legislation
“Progressive Setbacks by Passage into Law
HB3393 – Establishes the Lindsey Nichole Henry Scholarship for Students with Disabilities Program. Provides a scholarship to a private school of choice for students with disabilities who have had an individualized education program developed in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
(Editor: I guess this means “Progressives” don’t like publicly funded scholarships for private schools for disabled children. Approving such is a “Setback”.)
HB2321 – Allows school districts to teach non-religious courses about the Bible. This class is right after the one where they teach a non-Nascar class about Dale Earnhardt.“
(Editor: The Bible as literature and history = another “Setback”. Perhaps “Progressives” would love to have schools teach kids about NASCAR and Earnhardt rather than Washington, Madison, and Jefferson so future citizens wouldn’t understand what “Progressives” are up to. Is it possible to cover the principle figure/star of the Bible without covering the Old and New Testaments?)
