This is a real hot button for me. I have reached the point where I will not shop at WalMart anymore. Anyone older than twenty years old remembers Sam Walton being the original patriot of selling only “Made in USA,” and the signs in his stores denoting such. About three years ago, I went furniture shopping and the salesperson approached me and asked, “Is there anything in particular we can show you today?” And, I responded, ‘Yes, the furniture that is labeled with “Made in the USA”” He told me that would limit our choices “to these.” Well then, let’s look look at those only.

Using Google, one can pre-shop these days with a myriad of websites that list those products or services that are made in USA. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=buy+made+in+usa&aq=f&aqi=g1g-m1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CTYfx8QGFTMmCCYGOzQTw0syaBQAAAKoEBU_QOFEy&pbx=1&fp=5673716d440c1f33

—————————————————————————–

One Light-Bulb At A Time

(Author Unknown)

A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one
grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn’t slow a train very much, a billion of
them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American. Good idea. One light bulb at a time . .

Check this out. I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments. They were all made in China .

The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the
hose attachments there. They were made in USA . Start looking.

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects
someone else – even their job …… So, after reading this email, I think this
lady is on the right track. Let’s get behind her!

My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico … now I have switched to
Crest.

We have to; need to read the labels on everything.

This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, “Everyday Value” I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats – they were the same except for the price.

The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in – get ready for this – the USA in a company in Cleveland, Ohio.

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here.

So on to another aisle – Bounce Dryer Sheets yep, you guessed it; Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA!

I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce FreeI have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday
things and see what you can find that is made in the USA – the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we
can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from
overseas companies!

(We should have awakened a decade ago.)

Let’s get with the program and help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and
create more jobs here in the USA.

Where Are The Restoring Honor Rally Reports?

(Sent to The Daily Oklahoman)

To Whom It May Concern:

You might perceive my letter as ‘unfriendly’, however it represents the thinking of most every person with whom I’ve discussed the matter in recent years. This country and our Constitutional liberties are dependent upon a free, active and representative press willing to challenge the status quo.
Many Oklahomans are exasperated with the failure of the Daily Oklahoman to provide that crucial element to our state and republic. We are repulsed by political correctness and concerned that the two major voices for this great State are so extremely out of touch with our heritage, our values and our views. Furthermore, we are outraged that you have chosen to endorse candidates and issues in opposition to our expressed wishes.
Your choice now is to either be offended by my comments and ignore me or to do some soul searching about the performance and direction of this newspaper over the past few years and return to defending the tenets of liberty that allowed it to grow and prosper. It’s your call. DB

Last Thursday evening 300 Oklahomans loaded into six ‘Tea Party’ buses heading to Washington DC for the Glenn Beck 8/28 Restoring Honor Rally at the Lincoln Memorial – possibly the last rally allowed at that historic monument to freedom, as Congress moved recently to strip away that right.

Tea Party participants are ‘grassroots’ citizens with concerns about the direction this country has taken over the last few decades. We are educated on the U.S. Constitution and its provisions for liberty, including limited government, responsibilities required to enjoy rights, vigilance against inevitable assault on liberty by those who seek power, excessive taxation, etc., so we have banded together to preserve our heritage. We believe our efforts are crucial, particularly in light of escalating assaults on our Constitutional rights and freedoms by an administration filled with admitted anarchists, Marxists, socialists, statists, progressives …. all radicals from the 60s or their mis-educated children.

The Founding Fathers also warned that “a free press is vital for the preservation of liberty”.

At the first rest stop, after crossing the state line back into Oklahoma on the return trip, I dashed to the newspaper stands to see how the event was being reported locally. Unfortunately, I found nothing written about this historic event on the front pages – zero, zip, nada. Disappointing, but not unexpected. Likewise online I found sparse reporting on this major event by OPUBCO and local journalists. In fact, the state’s largest newspaper chose to reprint only articles provided by AP – which we recognize to be a notoriously left-leaning media resource and a major contributor to the distrust felt by most Americans. Does this newspaper not feel the slightest compulsion to send reporters to cover such an event?

Sadly, I found wonderful articles from independent news outlets in other states (many of which can be seen at:
http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/44912/)

This inaction strikes me as either sheer laziness or penny-pinching by the mega-wealthy OPUBCO empire. I have long been embarrassed by industry criticisms that OPUBCO does not lend itself to paying adequate wages for good journalists/reporters. What are journalism students learning at OU’s Gaylord School of Journalism? Marketing & Advertising?

The Oklahoman, in the interest of integrity, should either report credibly or dump its byline “The State’s Most Trusted News”. Currently, you are not.

The trip to Washington was long and arduous, as would be expected transporting so many so far, but liberty is very much worth fighting for. It’s just too bad we had to do so without the help of a free press.

Debi Bohannan – OK Military Mom

AND THE OKLAHOMA PUBLISHING COMPANY (OPUBCO) REPLY:

Dear Debi Bohannan,

Thanks for your letter. We were not aware of any buses carrying Oklahomans to the Washington event or we would have attempted to include that information in our coverage. In Sunday’s Oklahoman we had a front page — top of the rail — refer to the Washington event and it was the play story with photograph on our national page.

Likewise, we have had several stories and photographs — including some on page one — on the Tea Party movement and the various rallies held in recent months at the Oklahoma capitol.

As you can see from our Sunday paper, we report on a variety of local issues that have significant impact on Oklahomans. Thanks for caring enough to write and for being an Oklahoman reader.

Sincerely,
Robby Trammell

SPECIAL NOTE TO OKLAHOMA “RESTORING HONOR” RALLY ATTENDEES —-

We are setting up a special section containing personal stories and opinions about this special event from those who attended the 8-28 rally. If you have an interesting viewpoint or special story, please either post mail or email (preferred) your piece to one of the below addresses.
