RESPONSE FROM THE OFFICE OF CHRIS BENGE

HJR 1054 is still available for a hearing in the House Rules committee anytime within our committee deadline which extends for another four weeks. The practice of placing a bill or resolution on an agenda one week and hearing it in a subsequent week is a common practice.

While many may have assumed that HJR 1054 would be heard this week simply because it was placed on an agenda is a misplaced assumption.

The House is currently reviewing a myriad of state question proposals and viewing each in both the context of each resolutions language and the overall number of questions that could go on the ballot.

Again I can assure you that having a bill or resolution not heard in the first week of committee meetings does not equate to that legislation not moving forward.

Finally, for the record, no one has disdain and concern over “Obama-care” more than I.

Sincerely,

Chris Benge

Important News from the Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance (OCA)

Important News from the
Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance (OCA)

Rally at the capitol on Monday, February 2, 2010, 10 am, first floor rotunda. Be ready to visit your Senator and Representative and start twisting arms. We have a massive legislative agenda including a law that stops Obama Care at the state border.

After a short rally, we go up and pack the House and Senate galleys. If the seats fill up, keep circulating between the two. The legislators will be conducting business, but they will notice a large crowd filing through the galleys. They won’t have time to realize that you are coming in and going back out; they will think there are far more people than there are if we use this trick.

If you can’t attend, please send as many emails and phone calls as you can between 9 am and 5 pm. Pick the email addresses and phone numbers of the state sites show below. Please mention the OCA (Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance) legislative agenda and that you support our goals. Try to get friends and family to attend or call the capitol. This is “do or die” day for the conservative constitutional movement here in Oklahoma.

We would also like to thank our speakers Mark Shannon, Stuart Jolly, Carol Hefner, Katrina Pearson, and Dan Fisher for their motivational words, as well as a great, local band, Overdrive, who provided music for the event.

Since the fundraiser, many of you have asked if you can still contribute….and the answer is, “Yes!” Please send your donations to: OKC Tea Party, P.O. Box 94851, Oklahoma City, OK, 73143. For additional questions regarding donations, please contact us at: www.teapartynews@gmail.com.
